I've started doing quick studies in class. These are one day paintings, which I do in about 2 hours. Usually it's because I've finished a painting the week before and we only have the still life for one more day. I bring a small canvas and try and do the best job I can in that one class. It forces me to make faster decisions about composition, lighting, color etc. And to also take chances with my brush strokes and form. I've been loving these so much. I know they're not as good as other painting that I've spent more time on and care doing but there's something really fun and alive about these that I've been really enjoying.
